Job description

The Opportunity

DeVry Greenhouses is looking for a hands-on IT Support Specialist to help drive operational reliability and technical excellence across our growing greenhouse operations. This is a dynamic, onsite position that's ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of frontline support, infrastructure maintenance, and system administration in a high-paced, production-oriented environment. You'll be working with the rest of the 10-person IT team to ensure performance, security, and scalability of your technology systems. The IT Support Specialist's core mandate is to maximize the availability, security, and uptime (targeting 99.5%) of IT systems across all DeVry locations. This includes supporting end users, maintaining desktop and server environments, administrative support of Microsoft 365 apps and services, and managing networking hardware.

We grow premium floral products for retail markets across Western Canada and the Unites States. At DeVry, technology plays a critical role in managing seasonal complexity, automated systems, and end-to-end operational workflows. Our IT team supports its foundation - ensure that every system from desktop to embedded controller, contributes to our mission of excellence in greenhouse production.

Responsibilities:

Systems Maintenance & Reliability

  • Proactive monitoring, patching, and system management.
  • Apply OS/app updates on Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Troubleshoot system alerts, performance issues, and pre-failure signs.
  • Track and manage licenses, warranties, and activation keys.

End-User & Operational Support

  • Resolve tickets through Freshservice.
  • Provide onsite support for desktop, mobile devices, printers, and IoT/embedded systems.
  • Administrate & support Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, desktop apps).
  • Troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, VPN, RDC, and LAN/WAN connectivity.
  • Maintain VoIP, mobile, fax, and related infrastructure.

Infrastructure & Asset Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory and lifecycle tracking of all IT assets.
  • Document deployments, incidents and system changes.
  • Assist with procurement, receiving, and decommissioning/ disposal of IT hardware/software.

Business Enablement & Optimization

  • Identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities through IT solutions.
  • Evaluate telecom plans and service contracts for efficiency and optimization.

Other Duties

  • Contribute to IT documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base.
  • Travel occasionally to remote sites.
  • Provide off-hours support for critical system events as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Information Technology (or related) with 3+years of experience, OR a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and ability to travel within BC.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA: A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+, or Fundamentals+.
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
  • M365, Intune, Windows Server/Desktop Admin certifications.

Technical Competencies

  • Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Ubuntu Linux (server and embedded/headless IoT devices - i.e. Raspberry Pi).
  • Ticketing systems (Freshservice or similar).
  • Remote access tools: RDP, TeamViewer, VPN.
  • Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPN.
  • VOIP and cellular device support.
  • Endpoint protection and asset/license management.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time onsite role based in Chilliwack, BC.
  • Occasional travel to other company sites.
  • Physical activity (lifting equipment, using ladders, scissor lifts, etc.).
  • After-hours availability may be required for critical issues.
  • Bi-annual performance reviews (Jan/Aug); annual wage review (Jan).
