Qualifications

Job description

BE Power Equipment is a leading manufacturer of pressure washers, air compressors, generators and water pumps serving industrial markets in over 30 countries. Headquartered in Abbotsford, BC, our third generation, family-owned business is focused on designing quality products and delivering exceptional service.

We are currently looking for an IT Specialist to join our IT team. The IT Specialist will be responsible for managing and maintaining IT systems, networks, and software to support manufacturing operations. This role requires troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring system security, and optimizing IT resources to enhance overall efficiency and productivity.

What is the day in the life of an IT Specialist

  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Provide technical support to employees, troubleshooting IT issues and ensuring minimal downtime
  • Maintain and monitor manufacturing execution systems (MES), enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, and other critical business applications.
  • Develop and implement automation for IT processes through scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Implement and manage cybersecurity measures to protect company data and systems.
  • Assist in IT infrastructure upgrades, including server and network administration.
  • Work with vendors and service providers to manage IT-related projects and support services.
  • Conduct system backups, disaster recovery planning, and data integrity management.
  • Train employees on IT best practices, security protocols, and new technologies.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, IT security threats, and emerging technologies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support business and operational needs.

What we are looking for in a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, and/or proven experience as an IT Specialist, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ERP, MES, and other manufacturing-related software.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and cloud-based systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) preferred.
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools and best practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation and IoT technologies preferred.
