Job Overview

The IT Security Analyst performs two core functions: the day-to-day operations of security solutions and the identification, investigation, and resolution of security events. Secondary tasks include implementing new security solutions, creating and maintaining policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures, as well as conducting vulnerability audits and assessments. The analyst monitors networks and systems for security issues, documents breaches, and works to uphold security goals according to FirstOntario's policies and procedures.

Role

  1. Participate in the planning and design of enterprise security architecture under the guidance of the Manager of IT Security.
  2. Create security documents such as reports, baselines, guidelines, and procedures.
  3. Assist in executing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.
  4. Stay updated on the latest in security solutions, best practices, standards, and threat vectors.
  5. Recommend enhancements to security solutions to improve enterprise security.
  6. Deploy, configure, and integrate security solutions following best practices and security documents.
  7. Maintain security baselines for assets and monitor compliance.
  8. Review logs and reports, interpret activities, and plan resolutions.
  9. Investigate security issues and report findings.
  10. Participate in security audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments.
  11. Provide on-call support for security solutions.
  12. Monitor for policy violations and recommend corrective actions.
  13. Participate in IT GRC and data governance activities.
  14. Monitor physical security systems like cameras and access controls.
  15. Conduct regular security awareness and audit programs.
  16. Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills

  • College diploma or university degree in computer science with 4-6 years of IT experience.
  • Security certifications such as Security+, GISP, Microsoft Security Operations Analyst, CAP, CISA, CCFP, or ISC2 Associate.
  • Experience with SIEM, firewalls, data classification, EDR, CASB, IDPS, and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks like MITRE, CIS, NIST, PCI, COBIT, ISO 27001.
  • Experience with Varonis, VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi is an asset.
  • Understanding of vulnerability scanning, OSI Model, TCP/IP, Windows, Linux, and core banking security.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects and hold a valid driver’s license for travel.
