Job Opportunity: Kitchen Supervisor at Okay

Okay is a small neighbourhood hangout in Hastings-Sunrise seeking a dependable, experienced, and easy-going individual to join our close-knit back-of-house team in a leadership role.

This position is ideal for someone who prides themselves on maintaining a smooth, organized kitchen while staying hands-on and engaging with the team. We need a leader who can manage daily kitchen operations, uphold high standards, and contribute creatively.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee scheduling and back-of-house labour management
  2. Handle inventory, ordering, and communication with suppliers
  3. Maintain quality control across all prep and service
  4. Support onboarding and training of new staff
  5. Ensure compliance with FoodSafe and VCH health regulations
  6. Participate in prep and kitchen duties as needed
  7. Collaborate on menu development and specials
  8. Foster open communication and a positive kitchen environment
Requirements:
  • FoodSafe Level 1 certification
  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen
  • Confidence in managing inventory and kitchen operations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A calm, level-headed approach to service and staff management
  • A positive attitude — reliable, respectful, and easy to work with
