Job summary

Citi is seeking an IT Quality Intermediate Analyst to build and maintain automated test frameworks for multi-tier UIs and microservices. You will leverage Selenium WebDriver, POM, and BDD/Cucumber, execute API tests, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines with Docker/Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of hands-on QA and test automation experience, preferably in financial services.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript with strong OOP fundamentals.
• Experience designing and maintaining Selenium WebDriver test suites, POM, and BDD (Cucumber).
• REST API testing, microservices validation, and SQL/NoSQL querying experience.
• Familiar with IDEs (IntelliJ), Git, CI/CD tools, and containerized environments.

Job description

TheIT Quality Intermediate Analyst is a fully hands-on engineering role responsible for building, executing, and maintaining programmatic test automation frameworks for multi-tier user interfaces (UI) and server-side microservices. This role deals with most technical and quality challenges independently, applying solid specialty area knowledge, object-oriented design principles (such as Page Object Model), and industry testing standards to eliminate manual verification bottlenecks and minimize technical debt.

Operating within an Agile Scrum environment, the role collaborates closely with software developers, technology project managers, and product owners to implement shift-left testing practices across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The analyst leverages modern IDEs, AI-assisted development tools (like GitHub Copilot), and continuous integration pipelines (CI/CD) to ensure robust test execution, comprehensive defect analysis, and high-quality software delivery.

Responsibilities

1. Test Automation Development & Execution

• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for UI and server-side components using Selenium WebDriver, Page Object Model (POM), and BDD/Cucumber frameworks.
• Write clean, maintainable, and structured test automation code, reusable utility functions, and test scenarios.
• Execute automated API and backend validations for RESTful services and microservices, verifying database layers using SQL and NoSQL queries.

2. Shift-Left Testing & Quality Assurance

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams during early sprint planning, backlog grooming, and requirement reviews to define testability hooks and technical acceptance criteria.
• Translate business requirements and Gherkin feature files into executable BDD/TDD step definitions.
• Maintain end-to-end traceability across user requirements, test cases, automated test scripts, and defect tracking records.

3. AI Tooling & CI/CD Pipeline Integration

• Utilize AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate script authoring, refactor test code, and optimize test workflows.
• Configure and run automated test suites within continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Tekton).
• Execute containerized test runs in Docker and Kubernetes environments managed via version control (Git).

4. Process Monitoring, Analysis & Governance

• Analyze automated execution failures, debug script and environment issues, and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to report issues and recommend actionable solutions.
• Gather, maintain, and report on key quality metrics (execution pass rates, defect density, flakiness, test coverage) to monitor conformance to established quality standards.
• Provide informal guidance and support to newer team members on test automation practices and framework standards.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating control issues transparently.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience:2-5 years of hands-on Quality Assurance (QA) and test automation engineering experience, preferably within the Financial Services or enterprise technology domain.
• Programming Languages:Hands-on programming proficiency inJava,Python, orJavaScript/TypeScript, with a solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, data structures, and algorithms.
• Automation Frameworks:Proven experience designing and maintaining Selenium WebDriver test suites, Page Object Model, and BDD (Cucumber/Gherkin) implementations.
• Backend Validation:Experience in RESTful API testing, microservices validation, and executing SQL/NoSQL database queries.
• Tools & Environments:Practical experience with modern IDEs (specifically IntelliJ IDEA), version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Tekton), and containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• AI-Assisted Tools:Experience utilizing AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot to enhance script development productivity.
• Analytical & Communication Skills:Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to break down complex technical information systematically across teams.

Education

• Bachelor’s/University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical hands-on software development/QA experience.
