Job summary

The City of Hamilton is seeking a Supervisor, IT Infrastructure to oversee the enterprise infrastructure, including data centre, cloud network, voice, backup, and recovery services. You will lead infrastructure staff, coordinate service-provider activities and translate approved priorities into practical work plans.

with 5–7 years of enterprise infra experience, strong leadership, and hands-on expertise in Windows Server, Linux, virtualization, Azure and Microsoft 365 will thrive in this role

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Technology or a related discipline; relevant certifications are an asset.
• Five to seven years of experience in enterprise infrastructure operations, with supervisory or team-lead experience.
• Experience administering server/OS environments including Windows Server and Linux.
• Experience administering virtualization platforms and cloud/hybrid infra, including Azure; familiarity with Exchange/365.
• Knowledge of IT service-management practices (incident, change, asset, problem, configuration).
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching and cross-training abilities; able to manage teams and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Oversees operation, maintenance, availability and continual improvement of enterprise infrastructure.
• Leads assigned staff and coordinates service-provider activities.
• Establishes monitoring, alerting and escalation for 24/7 infrastructure services.
• Implements infrastructure standards and architecture requirements and maintains procedures.
• Coordinates datacentre operations, power, cooling, UPS and continuity planning.
• Manages budgets, forecasting and cloud/licensing costs within delegated authority.
