Your Opportunity:

The Information Technology team supports nearly every aspect of AHS by providing technical expertise and support for computers, electronic communications, software, security, and information systems to enhance patient care and organizational management.

As a valued member of the provincial Database Services team of 20 DBAs, the Senior CyberSecurity Database Administrator helps protect the organization’s IRIS, Oracle, and SQL database environments from cyber threats. This role involves working closely with DBAs and collaborating with application, architecture, and technical teams. The focus is on implementing and maintaining cybersecurity controls, responding to security incidents, and supporting security enhancements for the enterprise database ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement database cybersecurity initiatives and enhancements in line with Database Services and TIS Roadmaps.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments for Database Services, identifying, prioritizing, and remediating security risks.
• Analyze threat intelligence to identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities affecting the database ecosystem.
• Coordinate patching activities and implement security updates twice yearly and for emergency patches.
• Manage endpoint security for databases, aligning with the functionality of the soon-to-be purchased product.
• Monitor security events and logs to detect and respond to potential security issues.
• Support security incident investigations.
• Develop and maintain a business continuity plan for database infrastructure.
• Note: The role involves evening and weekend work and on-call support.

Required Qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in computer science or related field.
• 10 or more years of DBA experience with MSSQL or Oracle.
• Experience in protecting databases by mitigating cybersecurity risks.
• Ability to manage multiple demands and conflicting priorities.
• Effective communication skills with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Required Qualifications: A combination of education, skills, and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cybersecurity certification.
• Knowledge of project management concepts.
