Job summary

Roska DBO Inc. seeks an experienced Contract Field IT Technician to support field operations across Northern Alberta. The role extends the Calgary IT team with onsite support, infrastructure assistance, and technology project work at remote locations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years IT experience, strong Windows/M365, networking, and troubleshooting skills, plus the ability to travel to remote sites. Independent contractor with required tools and a reliable vehicle is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IT support, systems administration, or field services experience.
• Oil and gas experience is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and travel to remote field locations.
• Independent contractor with tools necessary to complete field work in remote locations, including a reliable vehicle.
• Candidates should reside in Edmonton area or surrounding region.

Job description

Our client, a major oil and gas company, is seeking an experienced Contract Field IT Technician to support field operations across Northern Alberta. The successful candidate will act as an extension of the Calgary-based IT team, providing onsite support, infrastructure assistance, and technology project support at remote locations. Compensation may include a monthly availability retainer, hourly support rates, mileage and approved travel expenses, plus additional rates for after-hours callouts and project work.

What You’ll Do

• Provide onsite and remote IT support for field users and facilities.
• Troubleshoot Windows, Microsoft 365, networking, and connectivity issues.
• Install and support Starlink, wireless, cellular, camera, and network equipment.
• Assist with technology deployments, infrastructure upgrades, and field projects.
• Maintain accurate site documentation, diagrams, inventories, and asset records.
• Respond onsite within three hours for critical outages in the assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of IT support, systems administration, or field services experience.
• Oil and gas experience an asset.
• Strong Windows, Microsoft 365, networking, and troubleshooting skills.

• Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
