Work Environment: Onsite, 4–5 days per week (non-negotiable)

We are currently supporting one of our clients in the search for a Director, IT/IS — a critical leadership position that will shape their long-term technology strategy and ensure operational excellence across all IT domains.
About The Role
As the Director, IT/IS, you will be the driving force behind the company's technological evolution, working closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, optimize, and support both current and future-state technologies. You will oversee all aspects of IT infrastructure—from servers and storage to networks, cloud platforms, and applications—while building systems to support company growth.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and inspire a high-performing, collaborative team aligned with company values and strategic goals.
- Set clear KPIs and support continuous development through coaching and feedback.
- Oversee vendor and consultant relationships to ensure alignment with tech strategy and business needs.
- Manage departmental budgets and capital project proposals in line with strategic priorities.
- Assess and enhance IT infrastructure, implementing scalable, secure solutions to support growth.
- Develop and maintain a long-term tech roadmap and drive ERP modernization initiatives.
- Define and deliver IT solutions that boost efficiency, streamline operations, and enhance performance.
- Implement IT strategies, policies, and procedures based on evolving business and industry needs.
- Ensure data security, disaster recovery, and compliance through robust risk management practices.
- Lead system integrations, IT/IS development, and modernization projects across the organization.
- Maintain accurate system documentation and perform regular audits for performance and security.
- Manage all IT infrastructure and vendor contracts to maximize value and standardization.
- Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues and ensure delivery of best-in-class IT service.
- Conduct regular audits, maintain documentation, and oversee all hardware, software, and vendor agreements.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Engineering, or related field (master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years in leadership or director-level or senior manager roles.
- Experience in retail, fashion, or consumer goods industries required.
- Must have experience dealing with Major US Retailers such as Walmart, Kohls, Sam’s Club (experience with international major retailers an asset).
- IT infrastructure: Networking, servers, cloud (AWS, Azure), cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with apparel-specific ERPs (like Visual Next, SAP AFS, Infor M3, NetSuite).
- Advanced knowledge of EDI protocols, X12 standards, and the SQL Server environment.
- BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), data warehousing, reporting.
- Retail tech stack integration.
- APIs, middleware, and cross-platform data sync.
- Knowledge of Canadian data privacy laws and cybersecurity standards.
Leadership & Strategy
- Proven track record of leading digital transformation and technology roadmap planning.
- Ability to bridge business and IT—communicate technical solutions in business terms.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, and SLAs.
- Budget management and IT cost optimization skills.
- Strong project management experience (Agile, Scrum, PMP is a plus).
Industry Knowledge & Soft Skills
- Understanding of seasonal inventory cycles, product lifecycle management (PLM).
- Knowledge of supply chain technologies used in fashion (e.g., RFID, warehouse automation).
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- High emotional intelligence and stakeholder management.
- Problem-solving and “find a way” mentality.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, trend-sensitive environments.
