IT Business Intelligence Analyst - (Remote - Boucherville)

Position is REMOTE: The selected candidate must reside within 250 km of our BOUCHERVILLE (Qc) office.

Your Role:

  1. Identify, evaluate, document, and validate technical, functional, and business needs to improve existing computer systems and implement new solutions.
  2. Design, document, and execute various tests (unit, functional, automated) to validate the quality and functionality of programs.
  3. Collaborate with internal development teams and external partners to deliver BI solutions.
  4. Apply experience in Business Intelligence (BI) to provide effective solutions.
  5. Understand the software development life cycle, write scripts, and review solutions implemented by other developers to identify and resolve bugs.
  6. Demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills.
  7. Organize and document work rigorously, ensuring clarity and attention to detail.
  8. Contribute to project management activities, including defining and estimating project effort, identifying risks, recommending mitigation strategies, and communicating project status.
  9. Ensure timely notification and escalation of issues to the Team Leader or Project Manager.
  10. Collaborate with key stakeholders to assess the impact of solutions on existing processes and systems and manage integration effectively.
  11. Maintain continuous communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  12. Manage your workload to deliver high-quality results and meet deadlines.
  13. Prioritize tasks appropriately based on project needs, deadlines, and resource availability.
  14. Be available to provide support outside of regular office hours, if needed.

Tools and Technologies:

  1. Proficiency in SQL Server and SQL language.
  2. Knowledge of Oracle (SQL and PL/SQL).
  3. Experience with Power BI and other reporting software (MicroStrategy is a plus).
  4. Familiarity with Azure Analysis Services and Visual Studio (Microsoft Analysis Services Project).
  5. Strong understanding of Relational Database Management Systems and relational model principles.
  6. Advanced Power BI skills, including Power Query, DAX, and Tabular Model Scripting Language for data model creation and reporting.
  7. Experience with Tabular Editor and DAX Studio is a plus.
  8. Strong SQL Server knowledge and understanding of relational modeling principles.
  9. Advanced Excel and VBA skills; knowledge of Access is an asset.
  10. Knowledge of Progress OpenEdge (SQL) is an asset.
  11. Experience with data warehousing platforms like Snowflake, Oracle Database or Google BigQuery.
  12. Proficient in working with cloud-based and on-premise data storage solutions to support large-scale data analytics and business intelligence.
  13. Understanding of data security, privacy policies, and governance frameworks.

  1. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and business stakeholders.
  2. Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work autonomously with a strong DIY mentality.
  3. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  4. Strong business acumen and ability to understand user needs, particularly in commercial finance contexts.
  5. Strong communication and storytelling skills to present technical information in a way that’s easily understood by non-technical stakeholders.
  6. High attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
  7. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.

Performance and Reporting:

  1. Track and measure BI system performance and effectiveness.
  2. Present actionable insights to senior management to drive decision-making.
  3. Deliver clear and concise reports that provide value to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  1. A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in the BI space.
  2. Interest in staying up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in Business Intelligence and Analytics.
