Job summary

Leon's Furniture in Toronto is seeking a detail-oriented IT Business Analyst to bridge business needs and technology, translating requirements into actionable artifacts and guiding delivery through the SDLC.

You will gather and document requirements, support UAT, manage backlogs in Agile teams using Jira, Confluence, and Visio, and collaborate with product, delivery, and operations to ensure solutions meet objectives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in IT or software development environments.
  • Proven ability to gather, analyze, and document requirements (BRDs, user stories).
  • Strong analytical skills for root cause analysis, impact assessment, and solution recommendations.
  • Hands-on experience in Agile/Scrum, backlog and UAT support using Jira/Confluence/Visio.

Responsibilities

  • Translate enterprise retail and service goals into clear, testable, and prioritized requirements.
  • Lead stakeholder discovery to understand operations and journeys; identify pain points, risks, and automation opportunities.
  • Define business rules, compliance needs, and success metrics.
  • Produce delivery-ready artifacts (BRD, FRS, User Stories) aligned to Agile/Hybrid execution.
  • Analyze end-to-end enterprise processes and design TO‑BE processes to improve scalability and service quality.
  • Document AS‑IS workflows, gaps, and enhancements; support decisions with data-flow documentation.
  • Act as the bridge between business and IT to ensure shared understanding and delivery alignment.
  • Facilitate discussions, present insights through visuals and summaries, and support UAT.
  • Assess and manage requirement changes with visibility to scope, cost, risk, and timeline impacts.

Job description

The Business Analyst plays a key role in the SDLC process by understanding business needs and translating them into clear, actionable requirements for technology teams. We are seeking a detail-oriented IT Business Analyst who thrives at the intersection of business and technology, ensuring solutions accurately reflect business processes and objectives. This role involves analyzing complex information and collaborating across teams to deliver impactful results.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in IT or software development environments, with a strong understanding of IT operations and business processes (retail/service preferred).
  • Proven ability to gather, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements, including creating BRDs, user stories, and other clear project documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess system issues, identify root causes, evaluate change impacts, and collaborate with technical teams to recommend effective solutions.
  • Hands-on experience working in Agile/Scrum teams, managing backlogs and user stories, and supporting SDLC delivery using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Visio.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting insights through workshops, visualizations, written summaries, and facilitating stakeholder sessions and UAT.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Process Analysis & Optimization

  • Analyze end‑to‑end enterprise processes across retail, service, and back‑office functions.
  • Document AS‑IS workflows, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and design TO‑BE processes that improve scalability, service quality, and consistency.
  • Deliver clear process, use‑case, and data‑flow documentation to support decisions.

Business - IT Collaboration

  • Act as the bridge between business and IT to ensure shared understanding and delivery alignment.
  • Facilitate discussions, resolve ambiguity, and communicate insights through concise visuals and summaries.
  • Partner with product, delivery, and operations teams to validate solutions against real‑world needs.

Testing & Validation Support

  • Ensure requirements are testable and traceable.
  • Support UAT, validate end‑to‑end scenarios, document defects, and confirm solutions meet business rules, compliance, and operational readiness prior to release.

Change & Impact Management

  • Assess and manage requirement changes with clear visibility to scope, cost, risk, and timeline impacts.
  • Maintain documentation and traceability, communicate changes proactively, and evaluate downstream impacts on training, support, and adoption.
  • Strong enterprise retail/service domain knowledge, requirements translation, process modeling, impact analysis, and data‑driven problem solving, with hands‑on experience in SDLC/Agile and tools such as JIRA.

Compensation:

  • $70,000 to $85,000 per year, plus

Working Requirements:

  • In Office at our Toronto/North York Home Office
