Data Architect

Classification: IS 24

Salary range: $76,071.18 - $86,658.48 with a 9.9% Temporary Market Adjustment

Employment type: Regular Full-Time

Location: Victoria or Vancouver, BC

Are you ready to apply your technical skills in an organization committed to police accountability? The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner (OPCC) is the independent agency that oversees complaints and investigations involving municipal police officers in British Columbia. We ensure complaints under the Police Act are resolved transparently, efficiently, and accessibly. Recent expansions of the Commissioners' powers now include investigating systemic issues related to complaints, making the modernization of our data architecture crucial for supporting data-driven decisions and improving service delivery.

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact by working closely with senior management on strategic initiatives. You will be responsible for data transformation, management, and integrity; addressing data quality issues; and developing policies for data management to support statistical analysis and reporting under the Police Act. Your work will contribute to police accountability and may inform recommendations to prevent misconduct and enhance the system.

Reporting to the Senior Research and Policy Analyst, your duties will include providing technical guidance on data standards, researching and evaluating data architecture technologies, facilitating data standardization, and developing analytical reports to support the Office's information and reporting needs.

This position is for one permanent full-time role, with potential for future temporary or permanent opportunities. We support flexible work arrangements, including remote and hybrid options, with formal telework agreements where appropriate. Travel may be required. Relocation assistance may be available for candidates moving to Victoria or Vancouver, in accordance with our relocation policy.
