Job description

The Information Services Purchaser adds value through the timely placement of purchase orders, recording of order tracking details, and monitoring of order status to meet customer order requirements and maintain stock inventory levels within approved guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supports all Business Units and IT with the purchase of IS-related goods and services, including sourcing computer systems, peripherals, cellular devices, and network equipment. Maintains relationships with current vendors and identifies new suppliers to ensure a dependable supply chain. Collaborates with Systems Support to maintain appropriate inventory stock levels and orders new stock as requested by Management.
  2. Oversees all aspects of purchase requests, including obtaining quotes, negotiating prices, and preparing documentation. Creates and reviews purchase orders, ensuring shipping requirements are captured and all details are tracked in the request and purchase order systems. Submits orders to vendors and resolves issues as needed. Facilitates the purchase of non-stock and inventory items for Business Unit or company IS requests.
  3. Administers online purchasing systems, reviews reports of open orders and back-ordered items, and expedites or escalates as necessary. Monitors price increases and communicates changes. Responds promptly to customer inquiries.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of IT sourcing and procurement experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Management or related field. Familiarity with Computer Information Systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures, including ITIL processes.
  • Strong knowledge of the IT supplier base.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience with an ERP system; familiarity with JD Edwards is an asset.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Assertive and outgoing personality with the ability to build rapport with vendors.
