Job summary

Russell A. Farrow Limited is seeking an EDI Specialist to lead the design, development and support of the EDI environment. You will collaborate with vendors, customers, and internal teams to deliver best-in-class EDI solutions and ensure seamless system integration.

The role requires strong knowledge of EDI concepts, mapping, and related tools, with a focus on AS2, FTP/SFTP and inbound/outbound processing. This is a 1-year contract position based in Canada.

Qualifications

• 3+ years EDI development and support.
• Experience with EDI translation tools and standards (ANSI, X12, EDIFACT).
• Knowledge of XML, flat file schemas and mapping.
• AS2 and FTP/SFTP protocols experience.
• Programming in JAVA or PYTHON.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position Summary

The EDI Specialist is responsible for providing direction, development and support of the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment at Farrow. They will lead various EDI projects by collaborating with vendors, customers and Farrow Operations and IT team members to design and develop EDI solutions to support business strategies and to ensure proper system integration and operation. The EDI Specialist will possess a strong working knowledge and technical expertise in EDI concepts and tools which, combined with related project management and business aptitude will result in best in class EDI solutions.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 1 YEAR CONTRACT ROLE.

Key Responsibilities (Supervisory/Materials/Information)

• Test, implement and maintain all EDI transactions and file problems
• Develop and maintain trading partner definitions to include relevant translation objects utilizing EDI translation software tools
• Handle communications with trading partners for EDI transaction set up and ongoing maintenance
• Coordinate between trading partners and networks to ensure mapping compliance
• Develop new business opportunities utilizing EDI
• Resolve technical mapping variations or gaps
• Trouble shoot issues in production environment
• Develop guidelines, checklists, procedures, and training documentation
• Communicate at the appropriate level with team members, management and end users.
• Interact with clients and outside vendors/consultants in a professional and knowledgeable manner
• Monitor the daily processing of EDI transactions

Education and Experience

• University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science or relevant work experience
• Minimum 3 years EDI development and support
• Use of 3rd party EDI translation tools, preferably Altova XML Spy and Map Force.
• Application development background an asset
• Extensive knowledge of databases, tables and SQLqueries with understanding of mapping and supporting EDI, ANSI, X12 and EDIFACT standards and well as XML and flat file schemas
• Working knowledge of AS2, FTP/SFTP protocols and Value added Networks
• Set up and management of trading partner profiles
• EDI operations support experience
• Programming skills in JAVA/PYTHON
• Experience with development using XSLT.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure would be an asset
• Working knowledge of UNIX, LINUX or OS/400 operating systems
