Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Water Resources Engineer (Alberta and Saskatchewan) to support our irrigation team on agricultural irrigation design, hydrological analysis, hydro-structure design, watercourse flood modeling, pipelines, and pump stations.

The successful candidate will oversee junior engineers, contribute to business development, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with safety and design standards while delivering high-quality outcomes for Western Canada.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience on water conveyance projects, focusing on irrigation planning and design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and P.Eng with APEGA in Alberta.
• Experience with hydraulic analysis and modeling tools.
• Ability to supervise junior staff and mentor others.
• Strong communication and client-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of irrigation reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Lead project designs from conceptual through construction.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and provide design direction.
• Undertake field investigations as required.
• Assist in proposal development and client engagement.
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers.
• Participate in training and maintain safety protocols.
• Support business development and client management across Western Canada.
