SUMMARY:
This role requires a professional with exceptional welding skills, capable of working under pressure to produce high-quality welds that meet stringent safety and quality standards. As a B-Pressure Welder, you will be responsible for performing welding tasks on pressure vessels, piping, and other critical components, using various welding processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pressure vessel welding, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team on complex projects.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pressure Vessel and Piping Welding:
- Execute precision welding on pressure vessels, piping, and related components, following specified welding procedures.
- Use a variety of welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) as required by project specifications and material types.
Welding Preparation and Setup:
- Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and fitting, ensuring optimal weld quality.
- Set up welding equipment and adjust settings according to the materials being welded and the requirements of the project.
Quality Assurance:
- Perform weld inspections to ensure conformance with Iron Core Welding Ltd. standards, as well as provincial and national codes.
- Identify and rectify any defects in welds to ensure the highest quality of workmanship.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations related to B-pressure welding, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and operated.
Documentation:
- Complete necessary documentation related to welding procedures, inspections, and project progress.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project specifications and compliance requirements.

RequirementsPREFERRED/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid B-Pressure Welding Certification from a recognized provincial or territorial authority.
- Additional welding certifications (e.g., CWB, AWS) are considered an asset.
- Proven experience as a B-Pressure Welder, with a strong portfolio of completed projects on pressure vessels and piping.
- Extensive knowledge of welding processes, materials, and safety standards.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy and the properties of different metals.
- Excellent manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various positions (standing, kneeling, lying down) for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in different environments, including indoor shop settings and outdoor construction sites.
