Job description

SUMMARY:
This position is designed for individuals passionate about starting or continuing a career in pipefitting and eager to learn and develop their skills under the guidance of experienced professionals. The Apprentice will have a fundamental understanding of welding principles and a strong desire to work on a variety of pipefitting projects. As an Apprentice Steamfitter-Pipefitter, you will contribute to our team by assisting with welding tasks, preparing materials, and maintaining equipment, all while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in Steamfitting-Pipefitting Operations:
  • Aid experienced steamfitter-pipefitters in executing pipefitting projects by performing preparatory tasks such as cutting, threading, assembling, and securing piping.
  • Acquire and implement various pipefitting techniques under the supervision of skilled steamfitters-pipefitters.
  • Assist in handling materials for senior steamfitters-pipefitters, including the use of forklifts and hoists.
Equipment and Tool Maintenance:
  • Conduct regular maintenance on pipefitting tools and equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Help set up pipefitting tools and equipment in accordance with project requirements.
Material Handling and Preparation:
  • Measure, cut, and prepare piping materials according to project blueprints and specifications.
  • Manage materials to prevent any damage or deterioration.
Quality Assurance and Control:
  • Deliver pipefitting work that meets the company’s standards and project specifications.
  • Learn and employ quality control methods under the direction of experienced steamfitters-pipefitters.
Safety Compliance:
  • Follow all guidelines and procedures of the company’s Health and Safety Management System.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Promptly report any safety concerns or incidents to the shop manager.
  • Take all reasonable precautions to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

RequirementsPREFERRED/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Enrollment in or completion of a vocational training program in pipefitting.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively under supervision.
  • Fundamental knowledge of pipefitting techniques, materials, and tools.
  • Strong focus on detail and a dedication to producing quality work.
  • Physically fit, capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, and able to work in various positions, including standing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and calculating material needs.
