Job description

Position Summary

Tacten is currently hiring Level 3 Rope Access Technicians to support upcoming work at Shell Scotford in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. In this role, you'll be a vital part of our team, performing high-angle tasks with precision, efficiency, and a strong commitment to safety.

Position Details:

  • Rate: Starting at $50.24/hour

  • Rotation: 4 days on / 3 days off

  • Shifts: 10-hour days (straight time)

  • Schedule: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Start Date: July 7

  • Duration: 2 months, with the potential for extension

  • Location: Shell Scotford, Fort Saskatchewan, AB

  • Locals required
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of rope access technicians assigned to the crew

  • Supervise and lead rope access activities in accordance with IRATA standards, Tacten protocols, and client site requirements

  • Review and approve timesheets, Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), and other safety documentation, addressing deficiencies and providing constructive feedback

  • Provide hands-on mentorship, technical guidance, and skills development for Level 1 and Level 2 technicians

  • Coordinate and execute rescue plans and act as the primary on-site emergency response lead

  • Perform technical rope access rigging, inspections, and work-at-height services across various scopes, includingcoatings, insulation, and maintenance tasks

  • Ensure all equipment is properly rigged, maintained, and inspected, identifying any hazards or deficiencies

  • Serve as the primary emergency contact 24/7, remaining available by cell phone during assigned projects

  • Assist in the investigation and documentation of near misses, safety incidents, and non-conformances

  • Complete and submit accurate site reports, safety records, and logbook entries

  • Step in to perform rope access services when personnel coverage is insufficient or additional expertise is required

Requirements
  • IRATA Level 3 Certification (required)

  • Journeyperson ticket in a related trade is considered an asset (Pipefitter, Welder, Insulator, etc.)

  • Previous experience working in refineries or industrial environments

  • Strong work ethic with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity

  • Proven ability to maintain positive working relationships with clients and crew

  • Excellent safety and quality awareness

  • Effective problem-solving and time management skills

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and maintain a high technical standard

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Clean driver’s abstract
