Job description

MISTRAS Services Inc. is looking to hire experienced IRATA Level 1, 2, and 3 Technicians to join our team for V-Deck installation supporting our oil and gas client in Fort McMurray, AB. As a Rope Access Technician, you will be responsible for safe and precise assembly and securing of V-Decking systems at heights within our client’s plant facility. This position offers competitive wages and benefits.

***Pay Range based on qualifications such as IRATA Level and V-Deck Training Level***

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assembling and installing V-decking systems at elevated heights, ensuring proper alignment and secure fastening.
  • Ensuring the V-decking systems are installed correctly to provide reliable structural support in the designated area.
  • Troubleshooting - identifying and addressing any issues or discrepancies during installation and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Checking the integrity and alignment of the installed V-decking, ensuring all connections are secure and meet quality standards.
  • Working closely with other team members to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.
  • Assist with maintenance tasks related to the V-decking systems, including inspections and repairs as needed.
  • In addition to the V-Deck installation duties above, technicians are also required to complete regular IRATA duties based on their respective levels (Level 1, 2, or 3). These responsibilities include maintaining rope access systems, ensuring proper safety protocols, and performing tasks at height in line with IRATA standards.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by strictly following safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Perform assigned duties in line with MISTRAS’ core values and procedures.
  • Navigate within an oil and gas plant/mining facility, including access to elevated platforms, confined spaces, and ladders.

Physical Job Demand:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds or greater (Frequently).
  • Working at heights.
  • Climbing and positioning.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • IRATA Level 1, 2 or 3 (Pay rate will depend on Level).
  • Current V-Deck Technical training (Level 1 or 2) an asset.
  • Willing to train via company supported V-Deck Technical training Level 1 or 2 as needed.
  • Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to follow instructions, maintain focus, and multitask efficiently.
  • Willingness to travel to site.
  • Must submit a valid driver’s license, a 3-year driving abstract, and pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test prior to site access.
