One of Canada’s Most Trusted Investment Brands.

At Picton Mahoney Asset Management (PICTON Investments), being alternative isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are. Founded by industry pioneer David Picton, we’ve spent 20 years challenging conventional wisdom and redefining the investing landscape. As one of Canada’s most trusted investment brands, we are proudly independent—privately run, 100% employee-owned, and deeply committed to delivering results for our clients.

Thinking Alternative is in Our DNA.

With a team of 171 bold thinkers—one-third dedicated solely to investment management—we are specialists, not generalists. Managing $15.3 billion for institutional and retail clients, we navigate markets with conviction, resilience, and a forward-thinking approach.

We’re more than investors — we’re innovators. We challenge traditional investment mindsets, constantly pushing the boundaries to achieve our mission : To bring greater certainty to investors.

Our success is built on four guiding principles :

  • Treat investors’ money like our own.
  • Redefine the way investors invest.
  • Be human—always approachable.
  • Succeed together, one investment at a time.

These aren’t just words, they define how we think, how we invest, and how we work.

Now, we’re entering our next chapter. We’re transforming our brand and reshaping the way the world invests. If you think differently, embrace an entrepreneurial spirit, and thrive in a dynamic, bureaucracy-free environment, join us and be part of what’s next.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a strategic and client-focused Investment Strategist / Client Portfolio Manager to help elevate how PICTON’s investment strategies are brought to life in the market, through compelling narratives, timely market insights, and meaningful client engagement. If you thrive at the intersection of markets and storytelling, and are energized by connecting portfolio construction with purpose, we’d love to meet you.

Reporting to the Head of Innovation, Portfolio Strategist, you’ll be a key voice of our strategies, providing conviction, clarity, and context to prospects, clients, and consultants. You’ll play a pivotal role in our sales process, partnering closely with Sales and Portfolio Consulting to form high-impact deal teams that deliver an experience not seen at our competitors.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a differentiated client experience, strengthen our presence, and scale the reach of our Portfolio Management team by delivering the “why now” and “why PICTON” in every conversation. If you’re curious, highly collaborative, and passionate about helping clients make better investment decisions, this could be your next big move.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn and lead :

Strategic Communication & Client Engagement
  • Act as a client-facing proxy for Portfolio Managers, supporting client-facing distribution professionals across both institutional and retail channels with compelling insights on strategy philosophy, process, positioning, and performance.
  • Present market views and macro narratives that build conviction around “why now” and “why PICTON.”
  • Support the final stage of the sales funnel by providing high-conviction messaging tailored to each opportunity.
  • Represent PICTON in key markets, serving as a trusted investment expert in meetings with prospects and consultants.
Sales Enablement & Deal Team Leadership
  • Collaborate with Sales and Portfolio Consulting teams to create high-value, multi-disciplinary deal teams for top-tier opportunities.
  • Triaging sales opportunities based on client needs, whether for data-driven analysis or strategic narrative.
  • Provide input to shape tools, collateral, and messaging that empower the sales team to close more qualified opportunities.
Investment Insight & Portfolio Expertise
  • Maintain a deep understanding of PICTON’s investment strategies, portfolio construction techniques, and market themes.
  • Participate in investment meetings to stay up to date on positioning and performance.
  • Translate technical investment insights into digestible, client-ready narratives.
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests, RFPs, RFIs, and due diligence efforts by supplying high-quality investment content.
Marketing Collaboration & Thought Leadership
  • Work closely with Marketing and Product teams to develop commentaries, thought pieces, and pitch materials that elevate PICTON’s brand and investment expertise.
  • Contribute to educational initiatives, events, and other programs that enhance client and consultant understanding of PICTON’s strategies.
