Job description

Job Summary

Individuals with a client-focused mindset and the ability to identify client-centric solutions will see this as a great opportunity to grow with the RBC Direct Investing Contact Centre team. As an Investment Services Representative, you will provide clients with helpful, engaging, professional, efficient, and knowledgeable service over the phone or through electronic communications. Attention to detail, productivity, effective problem resolution, and expert securities knowledge are crucial for success in this role. The environment is fast-paced and team-oriented.


What is the opportunity?

This is a full-time, shift-oriented role with potential options to work from home or at the contact centre. Business hours are Sunday 6:00pm EST through Friday 8:00pm EST (overnight hours included) and Saturday 9:00am to 6:00pm EST. Candidates must be flexible to work various shifts within these hours.


What will you do?
  1. Proactively identify customer needs through effective communication and guide clients to available products and services.
  2. Meet specified performance metrics for all client communications.
  3. Uphold a professional image of RBC and RBC Direct Investing Inc.
  4. Promote the RBC Direct Investing website and mobile capabilities, encouraging self-service options.
  5. Provide accurate, responsive, and professional services, including prompt trade execution via phone or electronic means, within regulatory guidelines.
  6. Understand and apply industry rules, regulations, and company policies to all activities.
  7. Accurately execute client instructions within defined authorities and ensure clients meet trade settlement obligations.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and multi-tasking ability.
  • University or College degree/diploma or at least 1 year of relevant client service experience.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal, written, transcription), attention to detail, and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and professional telephone skills.

Completion and maintenance of the following courses or certifications are required within specified timelines:

  • Derivative Fundamentals and Options Licensing Course (DFOL) within 44 weeks of start date.
  • Conduct Practices Handbook (CPH) within 22 weeks of start date.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 or higher, or Canadian Securities Course (CSC) Levels 1 and 2 within the specified timelines.
Nice-to-have
  • Prior completion of CSC, CPH, & DFOL.
  • Experience in an Advice Centre.
  • Fluency in French, Mandarin, or Cantonese.
