THE DEPARTMENT

The Corporate & Investor Relations (CIR) department plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing BCI's relationships with its clients and stakeholders through world-class engagement and has three core functions: Client Partnerships, Strategic Communications and Corporate & Brand Communications. CIR is responsible for understanding the clients' needs and representing their interests within the organization, helping them develop investment strategies and policies, and communicating effectively with both internal and external audiences.

The Strategic Communications branch deepens BCI’s relationships across its clients, internal teams, and employees through the development and implementation of broad engagement, communication, and visual brand strategies that build awareness, understanding, and knowledge of BCI’s organization and investment strategies.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Investment Education, the Investment Education Specialist supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of BCI’s client and internal investment education programs. The Specialist works with members of the broader CIR team and with individuals throughout BCI and our strategic partners (such as QuadReal) to support the delivery of high-quality education and knowledge-building events that build a deeper understanding of BCI’s corporate strategies, client expectations, and investment-related matters.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • University degree or College diploma in communications, public relations, or event management and planning
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong project and time management skills with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to assess project complications and swiftly deal with them to ensure client satisfaction
  • 2-4 years' experience in corporate event planning that encompasses:
    • project planning
    • meeting and event design (program development, speaker management, coordination of Food & Beverage, AV, registration systems, etc.)
    • event marketing (development of materials, contribution to PR activities)
    • site management (selection, layout, logistics, transportation, onsite communications)
    • stakeholder, staffing and/or volunteer management (related to event delivery)
    • event feedback and participant surveys
    • expense tracking
  • Strong computing skills: Microsoft 365; Adobe Acrobat; related applications
  • Experience working with intranets, extranets, digital apps, and platforms
  • Preference will be given to candidates with project management certifications such as the PMP or CAPM and completion of the CFA Institute Investment Foundations Program or Canadian Securities Course

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with the Planning and Delivery of Client and Employee Investment Education and Events:

  • Supports the planning, coordination, and execution of client and internal education programs such as Investor Day, educational workshops, client webcasts, the BCI Academy, the client Investment Curriculum, Client Meeting Videos and tours of BCI’s portfolio companies
  • Sources, manages, and coordinates with external event services as required, including virtual event producers, AV technicians, venues, caterers, transportation, on-site communications, etc.
  • Develops a critical path/project plan for all events that include, but is not limited to, event design, program and content development, speaker management, facility booking, food and beverage arrangements, audio-visual provisioning, and registration systems
  • Assists in the preparation of event budgets and associated financial reporting
  • Supports speaker scheduling, preparation, and event day coordination
  • Oversees and manages RSVPs and attendance tracking
  • Leads the execution of client webcasts

Assists with the Planning and Creation of Related Communication Materials:

  • Maintains a rolling 12-month education and events calendar
  • Supports the creation and distribution of event-related communication assets, including marketing materials, written documents, presentations, videos, webcasts, etc.
  • Assists with the marketing and promotion of each event
  • Leads the development of post-event surveys and produce summary reports of key insights
  • Plans, writes, and uploads content for BCI’s client portal and intranet

Collaborates with Team Members and Stakeholders:

  • Works collaboratively with other CIR team members on deliverables
  • Works closely with members of the BCI team to strengthen client confidence in BCI and measurably improve client and internal satisfaction levels
  • Represents the Investment Education team in liaising with both internal and external event stakeholders

WHERE YOU WILL WORK

  • Work from our downtown Victoria office; relocation support is available if needed.

SALARY RANGE

BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.

The annualized base salary range for this role is CAD $77,000 to $90,000.

The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.

We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we compete for talent and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.

Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience and expertise.
