We are seeking an Associate to join the Services Group within the Private Capital team. Based in Toronto, you will be an integral part of a team focused on direct investments in North America. You will play a key role in evaluating potential investment opportunities, executing transactions, conducting sector research, including pipeline building, and supporting portfolio company management.
Our Services team is focused on commercial and residential, industrial and infrastructure, and durable customer services. You will work alongside experienced deal professionals on thesis development, platform and add‑on acquisitions, and portfolio company value creation planning and management. In your role, you will engage with management teams, fund partners, investment bankers, board directors, and advisors.
You will evaluate new investments and determine whether the company represents an attractive investment opportunity. The analysis of investments includes conducting industry and company research, managing third‑party advisors, building sophisticated financial models, arranging debt financing, reviewing legal documents, reviewing and analysing due diligence materials, and preparing internal support materials and written recommendations to PC's Investment Committee.
Once a transaction has been completed, you will remain involved with the business, potentially attending board meetings, and will work with the management team and the board of directors to implement value‑enhancing initiatives. In addition, you will work directly with management on various initiatives as required, including with respect to value creation planning, mergers and acquisitions, debt refinancings, budgeting and other strategic projects.
You will help develop and refresh sub‑sector investment theses through deep dives, market mapping, primary research, target screening, valuation benchmarking, and identification of key diligence themes. Activities will include conducting desk research, working with bankers and consultants, and attending conferences. There is also the expectation that you assist in building and maintaining relationships with fund partners.
