Job summary

RBC is seeking an Investment and Retirement Planning Associate to support Financial Planners and Investment and Retirement Planning teams. You will prepare for client meetings, assist with simple investment solutions, and refer clients to the right partners to meet goals.

You will maintain exceptional client service, manage inquiries by phone/email, and help ensure accurate documentation. The role emphasizes collaboration, process improvement, and growth within RBC.

Qualifications

  • Mutual funds accreditation required.
  • Experience in investments.
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • IT literacy including Microsoft Office suite and digital knowledge.
  • Excellent communication with partners via in-person, email, and phone.
  • Flexibility, eagerness to learn, strong ethics, and drive for success.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Financial Planners with meeting preparations and simple investment solutions referrals.
  • Maintain high client experience whether in-branch or via phone/email.
  • Handle client requests, follow up for documentation accuracy.
  • Use routines to complete tasks efficiently and identify process improvements.
  • Identify client needs, make referrals, and track progress against annual plan.
  • Follow policies and manage operational risk with due diligence.
  • Support Financial Planners with admin tasks and proactive client contact.

Job Description
What is the opportunity?

As an Investment and Retirement Planning (IRP) Associate, you provide direct client and sales support to the Financial Planners, Investment and Retirement Planning, to enable them to focus on planning, advice activities and acquisition of new clients. You contribute to a differentiated client experience by providing value added support and problem resolution. In this role, you collaborate with partners across the organization to identify and meet client needs and goals and expand the network of your team. As a member of the Financial Planning, Investment and Retirement Planning Team, you bring innovative ideas to grow market share and enrich the success of the team.

What will you do?
  • Enable Financial Planners, Investment and Retirement Planning, by assisting with preparations for client meetings, and supporting the fulfilment of simple investment solutions and referrals to appropriate partners
  • Maintain a superior level of client experience and service with all clients whether they visit our branches or contact us by phone/email
  • Provide support to client requests, act as a point of contact for client concerns, and ensure accuracy of documentation with follow-ups, as required
  • Leverage routines to ensure efficient and effective completion of client tasks, identifying areas for improvement to realize efficiencies
  • Maximize opportunities to effectively identify client needs, make referrals, acquire new investment clients and assets, and track and review progress against the teams’ annual plan
  • Exercise due diligence in following all policies and procedures, and identity/correct areas of operational risk
  • Support Financial Planners, Investment and Retirement Planning, with administrative activities and proactive client contact
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • Mutual Funds accreditation (e.g., Investment Funds in Canada, or the Canadian Securities Course)
  • Previous experience in investments
  • Demonstrated success working in a fast paced environment with the ability to manage competing priorities, as well as multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • IT literacy including the Microsoft Office suite of products, and digital knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability interact with partners effectively in person, via email and on the phone
  • Flexibility, eagerness to learn, strong personal ethics, and a hunger for success
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, demonstrating strong collaboration skills
Nice-to-have
  • Proven track record of building rapport and developing client relationships
  • Experience in proactive retail sales
