Job summary

CI Financial Corp. in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking an Investment Analyst to support fundamental equity research and to drive efficiency through data, automation, and AI-enabled workflows.

You will analyze banks, insurers, asset managers, exchanges, fintechs and other financial institutions while collaborating with senior researchers and portfolio managers. The role emphasizes financial statement analysis, valuation, and building models with advanced Excel and data tools.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in equity research, investment management, capital markets, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in equity investing and security analysis.
  • Understanding of financial statements and valuation concepts.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and desire to learn.

Job description

The Financials equity research team is looking to add an Investment Analyst who can support fundamental investment research while also helping the team become more efficient and technology-enabled. The ideal candidate is a fundamental investor with strong technology fluency. They should understand stocks, financial statements, valuation, and capital markets, while also being naturally inclined to identify inefficient processes and improve them through better tools, data organization, automation, and AI-enabled workflows. The successful candidate will work closely with senior members of the Financials team and portfolio managers, supporting research across banks, insurance companies, asset managers, exchanges, fintech companies, and other financial institutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Financials Research

  • Bring a technology-aware and improvement-oriented mindset to the research process.
  • Identify opportunities to make recurring research tasks, information gathering, and team workflows more efficient.
  • Use available technology, data tools, and AI-enabled capabilities thoughtfully to support analysis and productivity.
  • Contribute ideas for improving research organization, information retrieval, and collaboration across the team.
  • Partner with internal technology, data, and research-support resources to help assess and implement larger-scale solutions where appropriate.
  • Stay informed on relevant developments in data, analytics, automation, and AI that may have practical applications for investment research.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Required
  • 1-3 years of experience in equity research, investment management, investment banking, capital markets, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in equity investing and security analysis.
  • Understanding of financial statements and valuation concepts.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and desire to learn.
Preferred
  • Interest in financial institutions and capital markets.
  • Progress toward the CFA designation.
  • Experience applying AI tools to research, data analysis, or workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, VBA, Power BI, or similar tools.

This role follows our in office work model and requires employees to be onsite four days per week to support collaboration and business needs.

This opportunity is for an existing vacancy with the company.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is$115,000 to $140,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a bonus program.
