The Investigator will support Investigation Support Services / Corporate Security in Canada by evaluating and acting on mid to high-complexity requests for Scotiabank and Tangerine. This role ensures activities comply with regulations and internal policies, contributing to the strategic priorities of Corporate Security.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage Bank systems and knowledge.
  2. Assess risks and implement mitigation strategies during investigations.
  3. Identify trends and communicate risks to stakeholders and management.
  4. Develop and maintain industry contacts for quick resolution of loss situations and to stay updated on fraud trends.
  5. Establish and maintain liaising with law enforcement and financial institutions for collaboration.
  6. Stay informed on financial crime issues and industry developments to protect the Bank.
  7. Prepare case files and documentation following SOPs, ensuring high standards in case management data entry.
  8. Support business lines in loss recovery efforts.
  9. Contribute to continuous process improvements with management input.
  10. Manage personal development through regular policy reviews, training courses, and research.
  11. Collaborate with other security areas and partners outside standard hours as needed.
  12. Consider the Bank’s risk appetite in daily activities and decisions.
  13. Promote a high-performance, inclusive work environment aligned with Bank values and controls.
Qualifications:
  • University/college courses in business law, law enforcement, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of investigative practices, methods, and enforcement strategies.
  • Understanding of criminal and civil processes (preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of Bank IT systems and security controls.
  • 2-3 years experience in investigating financial crimes, fraud, and due diligence.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Retail Banking products and services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • French language skills are an asset.
  • Industry credentials (CFE, CAMS, CFCI, etc.) are an asset.
