Purpose

Contribute to the overall success of Global Transaction Banking in Canada by ensuring the execution and delivery of specific goals, plans, and initiatives aligned with the team’s business strategies and objectives.

Ensure all activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Accountabilities
  1. Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  2. Independently manage and process large volumes of cases accurately and timely, utilizing analytical skills and discretion. Gather relevant data, draw conclusions, and present recommendations.
  3. Use interpersonal and communication skills to ensure client satisfaction in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing relationships with external parties such as FX Traders, Directors, Senior Managers, and Correspondent Banks to resolve cases.
  4. Apply attention to detail when processing final outgoing payments for settlements, including transactions exceeding 100MM in value.
  5. React to and minimize the bank's risk from fraudulent transactions by analyzing information, challenging anomalies, and communicating effectively across channels.
  6. Serve as an escalation point for internal departments on complex issues, building trust and upholding service standards.
  7. Participate in daily huddles to raise operational issues and promote process improvements.
  8. Consider the bank’s risk appetite and culture in daily activities and decisions.
  9. Ensure operations align with Scotiabank’s values, code of conduct, and sales principles, maintaining effective controls for operational, compliance, AML/ATF, sanctions, and conduct risks.
  10. Support a high-performance, inclusive work environment.
  11. The trainee role may support multiple functions within Investigations and Vostro Accounting Teams.
Education / Experience / Other Information
  1. 1-2 years experience or exposure to financial institutional back-office operations.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  3. Effective communication skills across organizational levels.
  4. Sound judgment, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Working Conditions
  1. Standard office environment; non-standard hours and limited domestic travel are common.
  2. Full-time on-site position.
  3. 1-year contract.
