Duties

In these roles you will provide administrative and / or financial support to various units for a small multi-functional team within a network of national parks and historic sites in Mainland Nova Scotia.

*Administrative support service is defined as, but not limited to: reception services, responding to information requests, invoice routing, maintaining records in a filing system, procuring office supplies, processing mail, making travel arrangements and other related duties.

*Financial support services is defined as, but not limited to: tracking expenditures; provide information on variances/commitments; provide the full range of accounts receivable services; verify and code financial transactions; input financial data; reconcile point of sale data to bank deposits; maintain change floats; and maintain SAP (sales and distribution module).

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to fill anticipated vacancies as full-time term employment opportunities arise in the Mainland Nova Scotia Field Unit. They are anticipated to be 6 months with the possibility of extension.

Stream 1 - CR-04: Administrative Assistant (Located in Annapolis Royal)
Stream 2 - CR-04: Finance Clerk (Located in Halifax or Maitland Bridge)

This process will be used to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic profiles in same or other parts of the country.

EDUCATION
All streams:
• Successful completion of Secondary School education or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

EXPERIENCE
For all streams:
• Experience providing administrative and program support in an office environment.

EXPERIENCE:
Stream 2 (Finance Clerk):
• Experience processing financial transactions on computerized financial or accounting system.

*Financial support services is defined as, but not limited to: tracking expenditures; provide information on variances/commitments; provide the full range of accounts receivable services; verify and code financial transactions; input financial data; reconcile point of sale data to bank deposits; maintain change floats; and maintain SAP (sales and distribution module).
