Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Inventory Supervisor to join our Training and Development Division, within the Corporate Services Bureau. Reporting to the Asset Manager, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the safekeeping, ordering, maintenance, and movement of a variety of inventory items, and providing supervision to staff.

Schedule / Hours of Work
The anticipated schedule for this position is 35 hours per week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises, schedules and reviews work of staff.
  • Assists with recruitment and selection of staff.
  • Provides training, guidance, and direction to staff.
  • Provides input to Manager on performance of staff.
  • Oversees safekeeping, maintenance, movement, packing, shipping, and destruction of a variety of inventory
  • items including but not limited to exhibits, police operational equipment, firearms, and use of force items.
  • Completes safety checks on inventory items.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels and controlled inventory environment.
  • Research, obtain quotes and orders all applicable assets and inventory items.
  • Conducts audits and reports or investigates discrepancies.
  • Analysis of relevant data and summarize information for management.
  • Prepare and maintain complex records, correspondence, and reports.
  • Provides input and recommendations regarding revised methods and procedures.
  • Drafts new forms, procedures, and instructions.
  • Leads project teams related to the work.
  • Prepares and maintains files, records and reports related to the work.
  • Reviews and checks records and files for accuracy and completeness.
  • Liaises with and responds to inquiries from internal and external sources.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment.
  • Uses relevant software and applications.
  • Maintains safe custody of exhibit room keys and all exhibits.
  • Assists with planning of special events.
  • Provides court testimony as required.
  • Assists other staff in performing their duties.
  • Performs related duties as required


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by several courses in a related discipline.
  • A minimum of three years related experience including two years supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Valid BC Driver’s License with a safe driving history
  • Restricted and Unrestricted Firearms License (PAL)
  • This position requires both SPS Security Clearance and RCMP Reliability Status. All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

  • The salary range is $34.75 to $37.91 (pay grade 18) based on 2024 rates.
