Job description

Alamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is currently recruiting the following challenging position to join our operations team :

Inventory Specialist

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The recent completion of a highly automated lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production as well as strong free cash flow generation. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. This is a very exciting time at Young-Davidson, and we are searching for highly motivated and committed people to join our team!

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for dealing with all inventory ERP system maintenance in the purchasing department.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Perform Inventory Management activities to deliver optimal warehouse network, sustainable costs as well as parts availability
  • Manage site material requirements planning, demand planning, etc.
  • Ensure end-user requirements are met at optimal inventory levels
  • Support the working capital optimization opportunities for execution e.g. new equipment purchases and associated spare parts
  • Manage all ERP system data including creating and uploading Material IDs, descriptions, locations, etc.
  • Ensure the data integrity of the ERP system by conducting and / or approving data uploads and regularly auditing data
  • Conduct MRP process, assist with placing and tracking inventory orders
  • Carry out effective MRP activities / reports, i.e. back order, stockouts, material reservations, exceptions, excess stock, availability, shortfalls, etc.
  • Support the creation of and promote adherence to standards and guidelines for inventory management
  • Examine / Review inventory levels, ROP / Max levels, historical data, BOMs, etc. to determine the right amount to keep in stock and update ROP / Max settings to reflect the findings
  • Manage the physical count process, scheduling, count sheets, data entry, recounts, record inventory discrepancies, prepare variance analyses, etc..
  • Manage inventory adjustments and transfers
  • Using statistics to determine which products are being issued regularly and which are slow-moving
  • Coordinate disposal of excess and obsolete stock
  • Assist with determining where the inventory should be stored and assist with plans to ensure smooth product flow
  • Analyze the root causes of inventory issues, make recommendations and / or provide solutions
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Post Secondary degree or equivalent experience in one of the following areas would be beneficial i.e. Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, significant inventory management experience (5+ years)
  • Extensive experience (3 years+) in master data management
  • Advanced Excel Skills and knowledge of PowerBI or similar
  • Ability to analyze inventory statistics using software programs
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Schedule : The position is based on operations working on a defined rotation schedule. Willingness and ability to work extra hours when required.
