Job description

Inventory Demand Planning & Item Master Data Specialist
  • Full-time

Be part of AIM's growing success.

American Iron & Metal Company (AIM) is a recognized global leader in the metal recycling industry, with over 125 locations and 4,000 employees worldwide. We have continued to thrive for the past eight decades thanks to the dedication of our employees and the ongoing trust and support of our customers.

Join the AIM team, a growing team that, over the years, has transformed into a multifaceted company with business divisions that include metal recycling, construction waste recycling, weldment fabrication, demolition and dismantling, and auto recycling. We pride ourselves on doing good for the environment to help create a greener, more sustainable future for everyone.

It's simple: we do it right. We strive for excellence.

The Specialist bridges the gap between operational asset maintenance and database integrity. He will be the sole custodian of the enterprise asset management platform (such as IBM Maximo) inventory catalog, ensuring that every SKU, bill of materials (BOM), and material asset attribute is precisely maintained. Concurrently, he will leverage consumption analytics to design, adjust, and optimize demand planning profiles, ensuring our industrial operations never stall due to a missing component, while keeping working capital lean.

What you're responsible for:

  • Catalog Administration: Direct the full lifecycle (creation, validation, modification, and archiving) of inventory SKU numbers across a multi-site environment.
  • Standardization & Structure: Enforce strict naming conventions, asset hierarchies, unit of measure (UOM) conversions, Min-EOQ, and commodity classifications for all spares, wear parts, and metal categories.
  • BOM Maintenance: Build and audit Bill of Materials (BOMs) and rotating item links within Maximo to cleanly map components back to specific shredders, shears, and heavy fleets.
  • Data Cleansing: Run routine data-quality audits to eliminate duplicate entries, correct description irregularities, and ensure vendor cross-references are pristine.

2. Inventory Analytics & Demand Planning (50%)

  • Replenishment Parameters: Compute and adjust optimal Reorder Points (ROP), Safety Stock volumes, and Min/Max levels inside enterprise asset management platform (such as IBM Maximo) based on lead times and seasonal volume fluctuations.
  • Maintenance Synchronization: Partner closely with Maintenance Planners and Engineering to forecast critical spare parts demand ahead of scheduled major overhauls or plant shutdowns.
  • Reorder Process Ownership: Own the end-to-end enterprise asset management platform (such as IBM Maximo) automated reorder process; generate, validate, and approve systemic replenishment requests (PRs) based on system-generated triggers before routing to purchasing groups.
  • Performance KPI Tracking: Track and report on key supply chain metrics including inventory turnover, dead-stock ratios, and stock-out frequencies.
  • Process Optimization: Identify cost‑saving opportunities by uncovering slow‑moving, obsolete, or duplicate items across interconnected regional warehouses.

To Join Our Team:

  • Experience: 3–5 years of dedicated supply chain experience, with at least 2 years focused on inventory/item modules and good ERP understanding.
  • Industry Background: Prior experience in asset‑intensive environments like metal recycling, heavy manufacturing, mining, production or heavy industrial logistics.
  • Technical Mindset: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Power Query, Pivot Tables) MS Access, MS VBA coding & SQL to extract and automate, filter, and prepare large inventory data sets for system uploads.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or professional college diploma in Supply Chain Management, Operations Logistics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to confidently negotiate priorities between data standards and urgent business needs.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Group insurance and Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)
  • Company activities throughout the year (barbecue, Christmas party, etc.)
  • Free on-site gym
  • Dynamic and stimulating work environment: work on important and rewarding projects in a friendly atmosphere!
