Role Summary:
The Inventory Coordinator role will support the organization’s material flow and warehousing needs. This position will ensure the accuracy and integrity of the ERP system while aligning material flow to the production floor with project schedules. Through the use of industry best practices and clear communication, the role will coordinate materials with project requirements to achieve 100% On Time Delivery. All responsibilities will be carried out using safe operating practices. Additionally, this role will support the organization’s Maintenance, Repairs, and Operations (MRO) procurement needs by sourcing and creating PRs/POs in accordance with fiscal approvals.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Put Away: Ensure goods are placed in their appropriate warehouse locations within a 24-hour window. Record the location in the ERP system to maintain accurate warehouse management. All materials must be safely stored in accordance with racking guidelines for weight and placement and must be identified by Item# before being put away.
- Kitting / Goods Issue: Using documentation provided by Scheduling, ensure materials are picked according to schedule and accurately recorded in the ERP system. Confirm that all transactions are complete, and that materials listed on pick lists are packed in the correct quantities and are free from damage.
- Cycle Counting: Follow established cycle counting practices using current tools and processes, ensuring all materials are properly accounted for in the ERP system. Counts should be performed according to A, B, and C classifications, with recounts conducted based on defined parameters.
- MRO Procurements: Work directly with the shop floor to track MRO-related shop orders and ensure they are returned to Quality (QA) upon completion. Support adherence to material kit schedules and act as a point of contact for any issues related to kitted materials.
- Overall Support: Serve as a backup for the Supply Chain Administrator role as needed. Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the manager or supervisors, within the scope of the role.
Professional & Behavioural Qualifications:
- A combination of relevant experience and training may be considered.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required.
- Experience with ERP systems is considered an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with both internal teams and external suppliers.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- A current or previous forklift license is considered an asset.
- Capable of working independently and completing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Highly collaborative and team oriented.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable interfacing with external clients and presenting themselves in a professional manner to customers.
Experience & Education:
- High school diploma (Grade 12)
- Material Management or Operations courses considered an asset.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in procurement and sourcing of MRO materials.
- Experience working in a job shop or engineer-to-order environment.
- Familiarity with barcode scanners is considered an asset.
- Experience with warehousing systems and/or put-away tools.
- Background in cycle counting and/or physical inventory management.
- Knowledge of the construction or building industry is an asset.
Working Conditions/ Environment:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to dust and noise in a manufacturing environment.
- Extended periods of work at a computer workstation.
- Regular presence on the shop floor, with proximity to moving equipment such as overhead cranes.
- Operating a Forklift in an area where pedestrians are present.
