Job summary

Ocean State Job Lot in Ontario, London is seeking an Inventory Auditor to identify, verify, and correct discrepancies in our stock. You will audit major departments regularly, count items, and ensure accuracy across shelves, receiving, and warehouse areas.

The role involves reviewing reports, reconciling counts with the system, and communicating variances to leadership while maintaining strong member service standards.

Qualifications

• Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Costco inventory audit experience preferred.
• Knowledge/Skills: Costco math test must be passed.

Responsibilities

• Reviews weekly reports of negative inventory counts and items in stock without sales.
• Counts merchandise on the sales floor, in receiving, and on pallets; researches variances.
• Creates computer count sheets and records counts in the system.
• Reconciles and reports year-to-date dollar variance to Warehouse Manager and central office.
• Audits biannual warehouse inventory and checks item signs for accuracy.
• Attends Shrink Committee meetings to discuss loss due to damage, theft or error.
• Provides prompt and courteous member service.

Job description

Description of position:

Identifies and investigates and corrects inventory discrepancies. Inventories Major Sales department and cigarettes periodically. Audits the receiving summary report daily. Reports directly to the Warehouse Manager.

Daily tasks and responsibilities:

• Reviews weekly reports of negative inventory counts and items in stock without sales, item markdowns. Researches and audits accrued merchandise payables, receiving documents, shipping documents, items sold by department number and item discount documentation.


• Counts the actual merchandise on the sales floor, in the steel and in receiving. Removes layers of merchandise from pallets for accuracy.


• Creates computer count sheets and keys physical counts in computer.


• Counts cigarettes, jewelry, Major Sales department and tires periodically. Keys counts into computer, researches variances, reports year-to-date dollar variance to Warehouse Manager and central office.


• Reconciles and sends adjustments to central office for the physical counts vs. the stock status vs. the book inventory.


• Audits biannual warehouse inventory.


• Audits item signs for correct item, description, price and rebate information.


• Attends Shrink Committee meetings to discuss concerns and solutions for warehouse loss due to damage, theft or error.


• Provides prompt and courteous member service.

Non-Essential Functions and Tasks:

• Assists in other areas of the warehouse as necessary.

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates must possess):

• Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred.


• Licenses/Certifications: None.


• Experience: Employees with Costco inventory audit experience will be given preference over other candidates.


• Knowledge/Skills: Must pass Costco math test.
