The Invasive Species Council of BC is seeking an Invasive Species Program Coordinator for new and rewarding challenges in an ever-changing and collaborative environment. The Council is a provincial non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring resilient landscapes and habitats from invasive species. For over 20 years, it has developed outreach, training, and skill development programs, working closely with partners including the Indigenous Invasive Species Network, Local Government Invasive Species Network, and the Province of BC.

This role is funded to support the professional development of youth in the environmental field. Applicants must be thirty (30) years of age or younger at the start of the project.

  • Collaborate with community groups like gardeners, outdoor clubs, and homeowners to respond to invasive species inquiries, including observation, reporting, prevention, and management.
  • Create communications such as social media posts and articles to promote invasive species awareness and engagement opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of regional and provincial resources on invasive species.
  • Learn about invasive species identification, reporting, and control methods.
  • Gain experience using mobile apps and online tools for real-time data recording and reporting.
  • Support other programs of the Council, including youth activities and the annual Invasives Forum.
  • Develop skills in project development, grant writing, and project management.

  • A positive attitude and openness to creative problem-solving.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Experience driving and parking a trailer is an asset but not required.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada and BC (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee status).
