Job summary

We are on the lookout for a dedicated Business Development Officer who is passionate about supporting community growth and wellbeing through Inuit entrepreneurship.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of related experience in business development and counseling, entrepreneurship support, community economic development, or a similar client-service role.
  • Experience supporting small businesses or entrepreneurs with business planning, budgeting, bookkeeping, cash flow, marketing, licensing, regulations, and general business operations.
  • Build relationships with communities, entrepreneurs, governmental bodies and other business support organizations.
  • Knowledge of Inuit values, culture, language, traditions, and economic development opportunities in Nunavut, with fluency in Inuktitut considered a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with MS word-processing, bookkeeping and spreadsheet software, plus file management and databases.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Support Inuit entrepreneurs and small businesses by assessing client needs, explaining available programs and services, and helping clients identify practical next steps for business start-up, growth, or expansion.
  • Provide business advice and technical support in areas such as business planning, budgeting, bookkeeping, cash flow management, marketing, licensing, regulations, funding options, and general business operations.
  • Assist with applications, proposals, and financing processes, including helping clients complete required documentation, preparing written analyses and recommendations, and monitoring financing conditions or business progress.
  • Maintain regular client follow-up and accurate records, including client files, databases, reports, financial requisitions, and other documentation while ensuring privacy and confidentiality.
  • Promote Kakivak's programs and business supports through various forms of community outreach throughout the Qikiqtani Region, which may require travel from time to time.
COMPENSATION

Salary Range of $70,990.60 to $95,682.95
Northern Living Allowance of $28,925
Benefits include: Vacation Travel Allowance, Health & Dental Plan, and Pension Plan
