Job summary

EQ Bank in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a Treasury Analyst to join their hybrid team. You will execute GIC operations, pricing dashboards, and journal entries, while supporting day-to-day treasury activities and ad-hoc analyses.

The role emphasizes process improvement, controls, and collaboration with internal and external partners. Ideal candidates have an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, strong Excel and data skills (SQL/SAS), and familiarity with OSFI requirements.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of banking products such as loans and deposits and how they work.
  • Exposure to capital markets, including the valuation and pricing of fixed income securities.
  • Ability to breakdown processes to simplify/ re-engineer.
  • Strong collaboration with internal/external partners and maintaining these relationships.
  • Strong Excel skills and data handling with SQL or SAS.
  • Experience with treasury activities such as Funding, Trading, Liquidity Risk Management, Market Risk Management, Capital Management, and Transfer Pricing is a plus.
  • Familiarity with OSFI-regulated financial institutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and sense of ownership; ability to operate independently.
  • High work ethic and willingness to continual learn.
  • Good communication skills and ability to distill findings.

  • Maintain resilient operations with effective controls.
  • Optimize/re-engineer processes to simplify operations while upgrading outputs.
  • Manage day-to-day cash/investment operations with stakeholders within risk limits.
  • Act as a backup for other Treasury processes covered by team members.
  • Execute various ad-hoc initiatives and analyses.

Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Senior Treasury Manager, the Treasury Analyst will be responsible for the execution of processes supporting the bank’s nominee broker deposit issuances, including pricing, payments, and managing key GIC life-cycle events. Furthermore, the individual will support other day-to-day treasury operations for the bank as well as various ad-hoc analyses. This role offers a great opportunity to deliver value by managing key Treasury operations while developing broader Treasury subject matter expertise.

  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly GIC operational activities, including origination monitoring, pricing dashboards, and journal entries.
  • Maintain resilient operations with effective controls.
  • Optimize/re-engineer processes to simplify operations while upgrading outputs.
  • Manage the day to day cash/ investment operations by effectively working with stakeholders to position the Bank within risk limits
  • Act as a backup for other Treasury processes covered by team members.
  • Execute various ad-hoc initiatives and analyses
Let’s Talk About You!
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field required. (Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, etc.]
  • Knowledge of banking products such as loans and deposits and how they work.
  • Exposure to capital markets, including the valuation and pricing of fixed income securities.
  • Ability to breakdown processes to simplify/ re-engineer
  • Strength in working collaboratively with internal/ external partners and maintaining these relationships.
  • Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations and comfort working with data via tools such as SQL or SAS.
  • Working with any of the following treasury activities considered an asset: Funding, Trading, Liquidity Risk Management, Market Risk Management, Capital Management, and Transfer Pricing.
  • Bloomberg, CANNEX, and/or Portfolio+ experience considered assets.
  • Exposure working in an OSFI regulated financial institution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including comfort operating in a quantitative area.
  • Good attention to detail, including a sense of ownership and ability to operate independently.
  • Superior work-ethic and a hunger for continual learning.
  • Good communication skills, including distilling data analysis into key findings.
  • Highly driven to go above and beyond expectations
