Job summary

Job description

To be eligible for Pomerleau’s internship program, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application and for the entire duration of the internship.
• Reside in Canada at the time of application and for the entire duration of the internship.
• Be duly enrolled in a Canadian post‑secondary institution or have graduated from such an institution within no more than six (6) months prior to the internship start date.

As a Health and Safety intern at Pomerleau Construction, you will have the opportunity to support new and ongoing project growth while gaining invaluable hands‑on experience. Working on large‑scale building and infrastructure projects – ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion – you'll work closely with our teams to learn the ropes and make a real impact.

What you will do

• Assist project teams in health and safety compliance.
• Support the promotion of Pomerleau’s H&S standards and regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections and ensure safety practices.
• Help investigate incidents and share findings.
• Assist in training and mentoring team members on H&S best practices.
• Compile and analyze safety statistics for proactive improvements.
• Assisting monitoring safety systems for effectiveness.

This role could be for you if you have

• Must be currently enrolled in a recognized Occupational Health & Safety degree or diploma program.
• A positive mindset and sense of excitement for being in the action everyday on‑site.
• A proven track record of team collaboration, strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Be versatile, curious, meticulous, and eager to actively participate on a construction site.
• Have a passion for the construction industry.
