Job summary

Capital One Canada in Toronto is seeking a Winter 2027 Full Stack Software Engineer for Team Sprout. You will work across Go, NodeJS, AWS, Vue and React to automate onboarding, access provisioning, and tool configuration so new hires can contribute quickly.

You will collaborate with engineers across Canada, participate in reviews, testing, deployment, and security fixes, and grow in a mentorship-driven environment with a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from December 2026 or later.
• Familiarity with backend programming languages and JavaScript.
• Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills.
• Solid understanding of testing fundamentals.
• Ability to collaborate in a team and participate in discussions.
• Complete the assessment by Sept 7, 2026 at 11:59PM.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a dynamic team through the software development life cycle.
• Develop code to meet story acceptance criteria.
• Conduct design and code reviews for quality output.
• Adhere to continuous improvement to meet quality and time-to-market goals.

About The Team

Team Sprout is on a journey to transform the new hire onboarding experience by replacing manual administrative friction with seamless innovation. Our objective is to fully automate the critical setup process—including granting essential system access, managing team roster additions, and streamlining tool configurations. By handling these repetitive requirements upfront, we ensure that new associates can skip the setup hurdles and focus their energy where it matters most: mastering the domain and contributing soon.

About The Role

As an engineer on Team Sprout you will be working with a highly collaborative, diverse mix of engineers from different parts of Canada Capital One teams to shape the requirements, design the solution and implement the solution. You will have the opportunity to work on different layers of the technology stack (Go, NodeJS, AWS) and collaborate with many external teams to help achieve our mission. You will be involved in building infrastructure, feature development, testing (unit test, component test and integration test), deployment, monitoring and fixing cyber security and vulnerability fixes.

• IDEs: IntelliJ, VSCode
• Languages: NodeJS, Vue, React, Java, GoLang
• AWS: S3, Lambda, Route53, Security Groups, IAM roles
• Monitoring: Splunk, New Relic
• CI/CD: Jenkins, Onepipeline (Capital One’s innersourced CI/CD pipeline)
• Databases: Postgres, Aurora, DynamoDB

Your Responsibilities

• Work as part of a dynamic team throughout the software development life cycle
• Develop code to meet story acceptance criteria
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure high-level quality output
• Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality, and time to market imperatives
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, design and brainstorming sessions
• Collaborate with Product and Analyst stakeholders to implement enhancements or new applications
• Technical Documentation for analysis, test results and release.
• Learn and build AWS cloud infrastructure on the job
• Have fun with the team

Basic Qualifications

• Will obtain a Bachelor’s degree or higher from December 2026 or later
• Familiarity with application development using any backend programming language, and JavaScript.
• Good communication, presentation, and writing skills
• Good understanding of testing fundamentals
• Able to work within a team setting and actively participate and collaborate in team discussion
• Ensure you complete the assessment no later than September 7, 2026 @ 11:59PM

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with backend technologies such as GoLang, AWS Lambda, S3.
• Experience with version control technology i.e. Git
• Experience with Jenkins CI/CD, microservices, API design / integration

The expected annual salary for this position is between $45,000 to $85,000.
