Job summary

Huawei Canada is offering an internship for an Engineer to help build enterprise data foundations and AI agent platform capabilities. The role focuses on developing core features for an open source AI agent ecosystem, including agents, workflows, and tool integration.

You will contribute to flagship open source projects, explore LLMs, memory, planning, and multi-agent systems, while collaborating with an international community and developers to advance the JiuwenSwarm platform.

Qualifications

• Experience building AI agents, multi-agent systems or workflow-based AI applications.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, Go or equivalent languages.
• Familiar with open source workflows and contributing to repositories.

Responsibilities

• Build enterprise data foundations using knowledge graphs and metadata systems.
• Develop core capabilities of the AI Agent Platform (Agent Frameworks, Workflows, Tool Calling, MCP).
• Build real-world AI Agents (Coding, Research, Data, Software Engineering).
• Contribute to flagship open source projects via feature development, issues, docs, examples, community collaboration.

openJiuwen is an international open source AI Agent community building infrastructure for the AI Agent era. Our ecosystem includes JiuwenSwarm—our flagship multi-agent framework—along with Agent Framework, Agent Runtime, Agent Studio, MCP, Tool Calling, Workflow, Memory, RAG and Evaluation.

About the job:

• Build enterprise data foundations using knowledge graphs, metadata systems, vector databases, and enterprise data sources.
• Design and develop core capabilities of the openJiuwen AI Agent Platform, including Agent Frameworks, Workflows, Tool Calling, MCP, and Multi-Agent collaboration.
• Build real-world AI Agents such as Coding Agents, Research Agents, Data Agents, and Software Engineering Agents.
• Contribute to JiuwenSwarm and other flagship open source projects through feature development, issue fixing, documentation, examples, and community collaboration.
• Explore cutting-edge technologies including LLMs, Agentic Workflows, Memory, Planning, Evaluation, and Multi-Agent systems.

The total target annual compensation (based on 2,080 hours per year) ranges from $58,000 to $104,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.

About the ideal candidate:

• Experience building AI agents, multi-agent systems, RAG pipelines, or workflow-based AI applications.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Proficient in Python, Java, C++, Go, or another programming language.
• Familiar with Git, GitHub, or GitCode workflows and passionate about open source.
• Experience with AI Agent, LLM, RAG, MCP, or Workflow projects is an asset.
• Familiarity with LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, or CrewAI is an asset.
• Interest in developer communities and technical sharing is an asset.
