Job summary

Johnston Davidson Architecture in Vancouver is seeking an intern architect to support the team with architectural tasks and drawing development. You will work on programming spaces, building code compliance, and permit submissions, using Revit and Adobe software.

Our candidate should demonstrate basic office experience and a willingness to learn, with strong communication and teamwork skills as you pursue the AIBC internship track and Canadian work eligibility.

Qualifications

• Eligible to be registered with the AIBC program.
• M. Arch in Architecture or equivalent recognized by AIBC/CACB.
• Minimum one year of office work experience.
• Ability to attain RCMP ERS security clearance (5-year background check).
• Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Strong Adobe skills (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Revit experience (proficient - nice to have).
• Physical model making.
• Computer rendering and digital visualization skills.
• Knowledge of the BC Building Code.
• Good work ethic and enthusiasm for teamwork.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Well organized with good interpersonal skills.
• Legally able to work in Canada.
• Valid driver's license.
• Looking to build their career.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to team members with architectural tasks.
• Prepare programming space for studies and projects.
• Ensure building code compliance and legal requirements.
• Develop working drawings using Revit.
• Assist with drawing submissions, building permits, and construction administration.
• Participate in deficiency reviews, site details, and site visits.

We are looking for individuals who want to help provide a home for our public servants and talented architects who are eager to learn and provide support to the team. This is an introductory level position, and we believe in individuals who want to leave a positive impact on the future generation of the community and would like to build their architectural careers.

If you believe this is you, you would be responsible for:

• -Provide support to team members with various architectural task
• -Prepare programming space for studies and projects
• -Ensuring building code is up to date, and adhering to any legal requirements
• -Development of working drawings using Revit
• -Assisting preparing drawing submission, building permit, and other various construction administration
• -Participating in deficiency review, site details, and site visit as required
• -Review shop drawings and submittals
• -And other various task that would contribute to your AIBC internship goals

While we do not require all the qualifications, the best candidate to represent JDa would have:

• -Eligible to be registered with the AIBC program
• -M. Arch in Architecture and /or an institution recognized by the AIBC / CACB
• -Previous experience working in an office setting for a minimum of one year
• -Ability to attain RCMP ERS (Enhanced Reliability Status) security clearance (5-Year Background Check
• -| Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident)
• -Strong Adobe skills (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
• -Revit experience (Proficient in Revit - nice to have)
