Job summary

The Ottawa Catholic School Board is seeking Intermittent Staff Members to support classrooms as Supervisors when teachers are absent and to assist students with various needs. About

Are you interested in working as a Classroom Supervisor (non-certified teacher) or Intermittent Staff Member supporting our schools in various roles such as a Student Support Worker and Kindergarten Support Worker? If so, more information about these positions can be found below:

Responsibilities of the Classroom Supervisor:
  • Provide adult supervision in a classroom when a qualified teacher replacement is not available.
  • Ensure an added safety element by having an adult present in the classroom.
  • Assist students with completing work assigned by their teacher.
  • Follow the Board's privacy policy and protect all students' privacy.
  • Additional duties may include outside recess, bus, or lunch supervision as assigned by the school principal.
Additional Information:
  • Students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program should apply to job #3808048.

  • Assignments can only be accepted on the morning of the vacancy.
  • Candidates must be able to provide a reference from a permanent OCSB staff member.
Intermittent Staff Member roles include:
  • Student Support Worker (supporting students with various needs)
  • Kindergarten Support Worker (assisting in kindergarten classes)
  • Office Assistant
  • Library Clerk
Required Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
  • Over 18 years of age.
  • Preference for current university or college students or graduates.
  • Experience working with children with physical, learning, intellectual disabilities, or behavioral challenges.
  • Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of teaching practices or previous work with children and youth is an asset.
  • Must provide a valid vulnerable Police check (dated within 6 months) at onboarding.

Rate Of Pay:
  • $144.23/day + 4% vacation pay for Classroom Supervisors.
  • Intermittent roles: $24.03 - $25.24/hour plus vacation pay.
