Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources Engineering or related field.
• 4–6 years of relevant water resources experience.
• Experience managing large datasets and interpreting model projections.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual, analytical, and numerical models of water resources systems (hydrology, hydraulics, water balance, water quality).
• Develop and maintain mine water balance models for operations, treatment, closure, and long-term care scenarios.
• Data analysis, coding (Python, R), and GIS.
• Prepare design documents, specifications, drawings, calculations, and technical reports.
• Mentor junior staff and communicate results to clients and regulatory bodies.

Intermediate Water Resources Engineer

Vancouver, BC; Calgary, AB; Saskatoon, SK; Toronto, ON; Whitehorse, YT; Remote - Regular Full-Time

As a Water Resources Engineer III, you will be responsible for applying conceptual, analytical, and numerical models to evaluate water resources to support water management, permitting, and environmental assessment in the mining and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will contribute to model development, data analysis, technical reporting, project execution, and communication of technical results to clients and other project stakeholders.

About The Role

• Develop conceptual, analytical, and numerical models of water resources systems to evaluate hydrology, hydraulics, water balance, and water quality using tools such as HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, SWMM, DELFT3D, GoldSim and other applicable modelling platforms.
• Develop and maintain mine water balance models to assess operations, treatment requirements, closure, and long-term care and maintenance scenarios.
• Data analysis skills, coding and scripting (e.g., PYTHON, R, etc.) and GIS.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop new water resources and water quality models and update existing models.
• Prepare, support and deliver detailed design documents, specifications, drawings, calculations, and technical reports.
• Technical communications, including report writing and reviewing.
• Provide guidance to clients on emerging regulatory trends, technologies, and best practices.
• Ensure projects meet local, provincial, and federal regulatory standards and navigate permitting and environmental compliance.
• Contribute to business development through proposal support, identification of client needs and project estimating.
• Interface with other technical experts to achieve multidisciplinary project goals.
• Interact and liaise with clients and assessors/government regulators.
• Provide technical input to projects within your area(s) of expertise.
• Mentor and provide technical training to junior team members
• All other related duties as required.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources Engineering, or a related engineering or scientific discipline (MSc or PhD is considered an asset).
• 4 - 6 years of relevant experience with demonstrated success in water resources-related work
• Demonstrated experience managing large datasets, analyzing and interpreting water resources-related data, and interpreting and assessing model projections.
• Ability to work effectively with team members as well as lead independent projects
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other business software
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently or as part of a team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels

$90,000 - $140,000 a year
