Job summary

GCS Group is seeking an Intermediate Telecom HDD Locator to run locate duties on telecom HDD bores across central Alberta. You will set up SubSite locating systems, calibrate equipment, and coordinate with Ditch Witch drill crews to keep projects moving.

Ideal candidates bring solid HDD locating experience on telecom or utility sites, hands-on SubSite proficiency, and a current driver’s licence. Active communication and on-site safety are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Solid field experience in HDD locating on telecom or utility construction projects.
• Proven hands-on competency with SubSite locating technology.
• Comfortable coordinating with Ditch Witch drill crews.
• All certifications must be current and verified prior to start date.
• Self-directed with strong situational awareness on active construction sites.
• Valid driver's licence.

• Independently execute locate duties on telecom HDD bores across central Alberta

• Maintain active communication with Ditch Witch drill operators throughout bore operations
• Identify utility conflicts and ground anomalies and communicate them immediately
• Record bore data accurately and support field documentation requirements
• Provide guidance to junior locators on site regarding equipment and procedures

GCS Group runs active telecom HDD crews out of Red Deer and we need an Intermediate Telecom HDD Locator who can hold their own on a busy job site. At this level we're looking for someone who has moved past the basics — you know SubSite, you've worked alongside drill operators, and you can manage a locate from start to finish without constant direction.

Key Responsibilities
