Job Description

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Intermediate Technologist or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Lethbridge Transportation team. A Little About You

  • Your interest in working for ISL’s Lethbridge office
  • Any previous education/work experience you have within the transportation, municipal and/or bridge field

Your resume should show us:

  • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Design Technology, Civil Design and Drafting Technology, or Geomatics Engineering Technology. Soon to be graduates are also encouraged to apply.
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation engineering related fields
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D/AutoCAD and Microsoft applications
  • Understanding of the transportation design, tendering, and construction process
  • A valid Alberta Class 5 drivers license, or equivalent
  • Transportation, municipal and/or bridge engineering design experience
  • Proposal writing experience
  • Topographic and survey layout experience

A Little More About the Role

In this role, you will be involved in a variety of urban and rural transportation projects from inception to delivery, which means that some travel within southern Alberta may be required. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, able to follow instructions and would be responsible for:

  • Collaborating on transportation projects locally and across ISL disciplines and offices
  • Coordinating with clients, contractors, and third-party stakeholders to facilitate project requirements
  • Developing concepts and designs using Civil 3D, CAD, and other computer-aided drafting programs
  • Preparing design calculations, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates
  • Assisting in the preparation of proposals, reports, studies, and evaluations
  • Assisting with the preparation of contract documents and specifications, and administering the tender process
  • Providing contract administration and construction inspection support
  • Assisting with preliminary, construction and as-constructed topographic surveys, as required
  • Interacting effectively and professionally with co-workers, client representatives, contractors, project stakeholders, and industry peers, and providing excellent service and timely responses
  • Other tasks assigned based on individual project requirements
