Job Description

WSP’s Remediation Program Management (RPM) team in Ontario seeks an environmental field technician to supervise environmental remediations, conduct field work, and manage on‑site health and safety. The role involves frequent travel across Ontario to oversee field programs, supervise contractors, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and adhere to site‑specific health and safety plans.
  • Identify and report potential site hazards, near‑loss incidents, and loss incidents.
  • Maintain excellent field notes and collect soil and groundwater samples.
  • Carry out fieldwork including groundwater monitoring, data collection and analysis, soil sampling through test pits or borehole drilling, subcontractor supervision, drilling investigations, etc.
  • Supervise subcontractors for ground disturbance, utility location, surveying, borehole drilling, groundwater monitoring well installation, and test pit excavation.
  • Oversee remedial contractors, directing remedial excavations, waste tracking, and progress reporting.
  • Prepare and coordinate project documentation, subcontractors, and equipment for field programs.
  • File and manage project‑related field notes, including data entry and assistance with report preparation.
  • Perform and record work tasks efficiently and accurately while adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Travel to sites across Ontario for multiple days to complete field tasks.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience supervising drilling and remediation contractors.
  • Diploma in environmental sciences.
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude with willingness to learn and ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety and safety‑conscious attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with attention to detail in field notes.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel for work.
Compensation
  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $60,100 – $79,600
  • MB & ON: $54,800 – $75,400
  • NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $54,200 – $72,000
