Intermediate Teacher - temporary (Grade 5)

POSITION: Intermediate Teacher - temporary

ASSIGNMENT: Grade 5

FTE: 1.0

LOCATION: Voyageur Elementary School

EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing September 1, 2024 until June 30, 2025

Basic Qualifications: A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:

  1. Training Specialization: Elementary Education with specialization at the intermediate level
  2. Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience teaching at the intermediate level
  3. A Reasonable Expectation: Based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.

Additional Qualifications: Not required for this posting.

Other:

  • Willingness to support the school plan for Student Success.
  • Willingness to work as part of the school-based team to implement plans for struggling students.
  • Commitment to working as part of a team in the development and implementation of the School Growth Plan and Aboriginal Enhancement Agreement.
  • There will be an expectation to participate in school-wide learning and teaching of self-regulation strategies. Voyageur school has begun to relook at trauma-informed teaching and complex behaviours with a focus on self-regulation at all levels. We will continue this work into next year and beyond, so a willingness to be part of the team to move things forward.

The starting annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $61,175 to $109,520 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
