Overview

Reporting to the Product Manager, IT Tech Operations, the Intermediate Systems Analyst is an intermediate level technical resource supporting multiple end user groups and project teams from the Tech Operations business unit. The candidate will participate in the planning, implementation, and sustainment of business applications, in support of several mission critical tier 1 and tier 2 applications

The Intermediate Analyst will administer, and implement improvements, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents. They will work closely with key Vendors in troubleshooting and identifying solutions. They will work on our monitoring solutions, and continuously create or update alerts for full visibility into our applications. Documentation and knowledge transfer will also be an important aspect of the role. Some key responsibilities include Incident/Problem/Change/Release management and adhering to ITIL processes. Root cause analysis and troubleshooting are a critical skill in this role.

Key deliverables include:

• Administration and support of applications within our Technology stack.
• Works with resources from other IT teams, WestJet business units, and application/interface vendors in the delivery of WestJet projects.
• Responsible for delivering effective and timely communications to project/initiative stakeholders (internal and external).
• Required to partner with Cybersecurity to provide patching and vulnerability remediation to improve our security posture.
• Coordinate with WS IT teams, WS business units, and external IT groups to diagnose and resolve incidents reported within agreed resolution times.
• Responsible for the documentation of incident resolutions for supported systems.
• Responsible for the creation and maintenance of technical documentation for supported systems.
• Required to provide support for UAT/Test and Staging Systems.
• Implement systems changes in accordance with WestJet ITSM policies and procedures.
• Required to maintain an on-call rotation and be highly available (24/7) during on-call periods.
• Required to create scripts and identify areas for automation.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, management information systems, or equivalent through a combination of education and/or experience.
• 5+ years in relevant technical area.
• Proficiency with Windows Server 2016/2019/2021 is an asset
• Proficient in MS Azure Architecture, Azure Cloud concepts, Azure Management and Governance
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, including repositories and pipeline deployments.
• Experience with Oracle and MS SQL server databases.
• Proficiency with Cloud Service Models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) is an asset.
• Experience with PowerShell script and VS Code.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), are essential to interact with vendors, support groups, and business groups.
• Highly organized and able to multitask in a high pressure, fast paced and dynamic environment.
• Experience working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented, environment.
• Solid understanding of ITIL processes and documentation standards. ITIL certification is an asset.
• Excellent time management skills, ability to manage multiple items.
• Experience troubleshooting issues related to networking, security firewalls, domain policies, etc.
• Familiar with ticketing tools (ServiceNow).
• Ability to take a proactive approach to identify problems, issues, and opportunities.
• Ability to propose solutions and new initiatives.
• Ability to communicate in a clear, accurate, concise, and professional manner, both verbally and in a written format.
• Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with operational leadership and business stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn related technology and business processes.
• Airline IT knowledge is a nice to have.
