Skyline Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Structural Project Engineer with 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in structural design. This intermediate-level role offers an exciting opportunity to lead projects from conceptual design through to detailed engineering and construction completion. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of a diverse range of projects, collaborating closely with senior engineers within the firm, architects, and clients. Skyline Engineering Ltd. is a Victoria based structural engineering firm designing multi-storey residential, commercial, institutional, educational, healthcare, marine, and recreation projects. Our team combines their engineering expertise in the use of conventional and heavy timber wood frame, reinforced concrete, and steel to create efficient and unique structural designs where the structural function complements the Architectural form. Our firm prioritizes balancing our workloads so that each project receives the direct attention it requires. Duties

  • Manage multiple projects with varying scopes, timelines, and budgets
  • Lead in or assist senior engineers with the preparation of preliminary structural design concepts
  • Collaborate with the consultant and client team throughout all phases of design and construction
  • Prepare detailed structural calculations and designs for concrete, steel, timber, and aluminum structures
  • Prepare technical reports and memos
  • Manage the construction phase of projects including site review, attendance at site meetings, responding to RFI’s, and review of applicable shop drawings
  • Preparation and issue of instructions and sketches to site
  • Mentor & train junior staff, review their work, and provide feedback as required
  • Develop and maintain client relationships to identify and secure new project opportunities
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registered as a P.Eng. with EGBC or eligible for accreditation within 2 years of the start date
  • Requires valid BC driver's license (personal vehicle is an asset)
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Have experience with the structural design of wood frame, steel, and concrete residential and commercial structures
  • Requires experience with current Canadian concrete, wood and steel codes
Other Assets
  • Experience with structural engineering software (ETABS, SAAP, SAFE, Sizer)
  • Ability to take direction and work well with others
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
