Job summary

Fortinet in Burnaby, Canada, is seeking a software quality assurance engineer to execute feature and bug fix testing, document defects, and automate front-end and related testing. You will work with developers to ensure defects are correctly identified and fixed, set up experimental networks, and use Unix/Linux, TCP/IP, and firewall knowledge to troubleshoot effectively.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in software quality assurance or network engineering in IT or related industry.
• Experience in routing/switching/network security fields.
• Proficiency with Unix/Linux environments is a must.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, switching and routing.
• Ability to write clear, reproducible defect reports and test results.
• Familiarity with system installations, configurations and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of at least one scripting language (Shell, Ruby, Perl, Python).
• Background in cloud computing is a plus.

• Identify, document, and track software defects found during testing.

Skills Required

• 2+ years of software quality assurance or network engineering experience in IT or related industry preferably in
• routing/switching/network security fields.
• Experience in Unix/Linux environment is a must
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, switching and routing is essential
• Familiar with general system maintenance and troubleshooting, understanding of combination of software and different hardware components
• Demonstrated ability to write clear and reproducible problem reports, and test results
• Demonstrated knowledge of firewalls, Linux and packet capture utilities like Wireshark
• Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills * Highly motivated and responsible quick learner
• Familiar with system installations, configurations, and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of at least one scripting language: Shell, Ruby, Perl, Python, etc
• Background in cloud computing a plus

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $83,000 - $102,000 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
