Job summary

Fortinet is seeking a Software Release QA Specialist for its R&D Team in Canada. This role focuses on executing test cases, designing and maintaining software systems, and building QA automation infrastructure to ensure product quality across cloud, network, and security domains.

You'll drive quality gates, contribute to release readiness, and participate in on-call rotations, while aligning with security standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least four years of professional experience in a technical role.
  • Strong understanding of client-server architecture and internet protocols.
  • In-depth knowledge of the internet protocol suite (ARP, MAC, IPv4, IPsec, TCP, UDP, HTTP, SSH, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching).
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with configuring and managing Windows and Linux servers and virtualization tech (Windows Hypervisor, VMware).
  • Familiar with QA processes and software development fundamentals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network/server issues using tools like packet sniffers, traceroute, monitors, Windows Event Viewer.
  • Experience with Python scripting and automation development.
  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins CI/CD pipeline setup and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Docker containerization and deployment environments is a plus.

Required Qualifications & Job Skills:

  • Over five years of hands‑on experience with configuring and managing Windows and Linux servers, as well as virtualization technologies such as Windows Hypervisor and VMware.
  • Strong familiarity with QA processes and methodologies, along with software development fundamentals.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot network and server issues using tools like packet sniffers, traceroute, process monitors, and Windows Event Viewer.
  • Experience with Python scripting and automation development.
  • Hands‑on experience with Jenkins CI/CD pipeline setup and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Docker containerization and container‑based deployment environments is a plus.

The Canada base salary range for this full‑time position is expected to be between $85,000 - $104,000 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
